San Francisco Suites

President’s Letter
May 15, 2008.

Dear Fellow San Francisco Suites Owners,

As all of us know, it as been a tumultuous half year. After a long period of deteriorating communication and staff relationships, your board allowed Tony Holder, our manager, to leave. We were very fortunate to have a mature and experienced candidate on our staff, and the board is very pleased that Henry Potter accepted the responsibility of becoming general manager. Several employees were unable to work with the changes, and this was also difficult, but unavoidable. Henry as hired several new employees, including Carolyn Johnson, who worked at the front desk in the past. The board is pleased by the direction the suites is taking; we are trying to catch up with some deferred projects and move ahead with long term improvements as well as more immediate operational efforts. We are quite happy with Henry's goals and ideas.

A major effort has been to get our financial affairs clear and in order, and I think that we are about finished. I do not believe that there are major problems; but with the management transition, a lot of things had to be reconciled. We have not done any major projects, and our reserve account continues to grow. We are in good financial condition, but we have to prepare for some significant projects in the future, and we are doing so. We will get specific owner input before major projects are decided. The board continues to seek owner assistance and help. If any owner has interest in such things as finance, operations, or decorating, please let me or Henry know.

On a personal note, I had a significant stroke last month (this did not help us get things done). I am just getting back in action and typing is still difficult. I would like to thank the rest of the board and the staff at San Francisco Suites for filling in for me.  As I lay in the neuro ICU at UCSF it was nice to know that I (and we) had Henry across town taking care of so much.

Sincerely yours,
Jeff Reichel
