San Francisco Suites

March 17, 2009

Dear San Francisco Suite Owners,

March has arrived and all madness aside, 2009 is in full swing. What exciting times we are experiencing!

I hope you are all faring well, at least well enough to plan a visit to your San Francisco home away from home. The city is teeming with activity from great theatre to comedy clubs, opera to museums, and a parade or two sprinkled in…anyone up for the Bay to Breakers Race? When visiting our website, click on the Concierge Desk tab to view the new Event Guide. You will find a wide variety of current entertainment events and resources.

There are new restaurants appearing with plenty to delight the palate. A great resource is www.tablehopper.com.  Marsha Gagliardi (my favorite S.F. food maven) is clever, witty, and knows the food scene better than anyone!

On March 15th the Board Member’s election and quarterly Board of Directors Meeting took place. It was a great day. Before I welcome our new Board Members I must express my sincere thanks to all seven candidates in this year’s election. I hope those not elected will not be discouraged and consider entering next year’s election.

Please join me in welcoming our new Board Members; Mrs. Mary Lou Dion (Secretary) and Mr. Tom Weber (Vice President). They join Dr. Jeff Reichel (Treasurer), Mr. Jim White (President), and Dr. Larry Schwartz to complete the team. These dedicated owners offer a wide range of expertise and knowledge. I look forward to working with the newly elected members.

The departing members, Mrs. Patti Hoar and Mr. Pat D’ Angelo, received a big round of applause. Mr. D’ Angelo has been very helpful with his guidance and advice with financial matters. “Ms. Patti” has been a real gem with her vast knowledge of the suites history, eagle eye for decorating and steadfast loyalty to the owners and the Suites. She has used many share days visiting us and helping from the beginning of my tenure (as I am sure she has done for all past managers).  She truly is the San Francisco Suites “Joan of Arc”!

This year’s Inspectors of Elections Mr. Mason Brown (past Board Member), Mrs. Betty McCoy, and Mr. Clayton Werth efficiently and expeditiously verified and tallied the votes presenting the results to the Board of Directors and meeting attendees. Thank you for your time and efforts.

As for the Suites, We have unfortunately had to say good bye to houseman Luis Aguilar and concierge Jon Balch due to 2009 budget short falls. The staff has joined together as we continue our efforts to provide a memorable experience in a safe and comfortable environment. Hayden Sims is assisting at the front desk and also bookkeeping. Lobby Attendant Tony Verastegui is training as concierge 3 evenings a week. Both are doing an excellent job along with concierge Caroline Johnson on special projects and Andrew Flack assisting with administrative work one day a week. Also, thanks to housekeepers Gloria Soto and Marlene Almeida who now assist with lobby attendant duties.  We are very fortunate to have a loyal and dedicated staff!

Please note our newly revised breakfast menu located in each suites guest service directory. Newspapers are still complimentary 6 days a week, however the Sunday paper is now $2.00. Please let the concierge know if you would like the paper delivered during your visit. The wine and cheese reception is now served from 4:30 – 6:00 every evening with exciting new wine selections.

At the end of January we’ve had 79 new Marvin double hung windows installed. Not only a noticeable noise reduction, they look beautiful both inside and out.

On your next visit take a look at the newly remodeled Board Room Kitchen. Thanks to The Stair Guy, Mr. Russ Skarsten, whose company provided expert finished woodwork (proof seen in our beautiful new kitchen)!

I hope to complete my pet project, an online availability calendar by mid 2009. This will allow owners to view availability on our website. Thank you for your patience .

As we enter Spring, my favorite time of year, I look to the future with hope and inspiration. It is a true pleasure hosting your visits to magical San Francisco. We thank you for allowing us the opportunity!
