SAFETY PROCEDURES

Upon check-in, we suggest that you take the time to locate the fire exit stairway on your floor (marked EXIT). In the event that you are advised to evacuate, you will be directed to use the EXIT stairway. For your safety, the building elevator will not operate during an emergency.

If you have a physical condition that might impair your ability to either detect an alarm or evacuate via stairway, please notify the Concierge or Manager immediately. For your added protection, we suggest that you lock your door while inside your Suite.

Please understand that the Suites’ safety team representing management, engineering and security will soon inspect the area and, if necessary, escort you out of the building. San Francisco is subject to earthquakes; therefore, the Suites could lose all emergency services for periods of 24 hours or longer, depending on the circumstances. Because of this known factor, the Suites are earthquake prepared. In the event of an earthquake, the following information is offered for your safety and understanding:

Basic Earthquake Rules

If indoors
STAY INDOORS unless you are in immediate personal danger as the result of an earthquake; take cover under a desk or table, in a hallway, or against an inside wall. Stay away from windows, mirrors, glass and furniture that may fall over. Do not panic or run for exits. DO NOT RUN OUTDOORS; you might be hit by falling debris or falling electrical wires.

If outdoors
GET AWAY FROM TALL BUILDINGS, walls, power poles and objects that could fall. DO NOT run through the streets or alongside buildings. The points of greatest danger are just outside of doorways and close to outer or street side walls. If possible, move to an open area away from the hazard zone.

If in a moving car
STOP IN THE SAFEST PLACE AVAILABLE, preferably an open area away from buildings or other structures, and stay inside your automobile.

After an earthquake
After an earthquake, there may be aftershocks. These are generally smaller than the main shock, but some may be large enough to cause additional damage. STAY OUT OF DAMAGED BUILDINGS; aftershocks may shake them down.
Fortunately, emergencies do not occur with great frequency. But should one occur, this information is provided to assist everyone to a safe conclusion of the emergency. There will be a coordinated effort among hotel management and staff, engineering, security and the fire, emergency medical and police departments (if necessary) to evacuate through means of our life safety programs should an earthquake or other emergency occur.
